About Better Baseball
The story behind Better Baseball is truly unique. The founder, Glen Robinson III, was a starting soccer player and valedictorian of his high school in Atlanta, GA. An entrepreneur at heart, Glen stayed on top of the latest trends and always kept an eye out for the next big thing. In the 1980’s he started raising and selling ostriches and emus. “The birds of the future, I tell you!” he preached, “they’ll be as popular as chicken and turkey!” While on the farm one warm spring morning, Mr. Robinson was approached by a client who inquired about the material used to separate the ostrich pens. They asked if he could use that same material to make a batting cage…well, he could, and he did. Word spread, and Glen began making batting cages for much of his rapidly expanding clientele. Unfortunately, in the early 1990’s the bubble burst on the ostrich/emu market, and Glen was forced to find something new.

Glen soon formed Shelter Shade, a company focused on supplying shade, netting and wind release materials. Meanwhile, demand continued to increase for batting cages, and eventually clients started asking for pitching machines to go with their beautiful new cages. Glen, not inclined to let anyone down, dutifully applied for credit with a number of pitching machine companies to ensure he could meet the growing demand. It should go without saying, pitching machines are pretty useless without balls, so Glen decided to sell those as well. Things progressed this way for several years until Glen realized, “You know, I sell more of this baseball stuff than farm stuff!” It was clearly time for a name change and a brand new direction.

In the mid 1990’s Better Baseball was officially established. With help from his nephew, Glen built one of the first online catalogues for baseball and softball equipment. Operating from the basement of his home, Glen managed to establish credit with over 100 different vendors before eventually building a brick and mortar retail location in May 2009. Upon completion of the new store, work began on a much needed website upgrade, and as of November 2010, Better Baseball launched version 2.0, which you see before you today.

The employees of Better Baseball provide respectful southern-style service. We love what we do and strive to help each and every customer play better baseball…and softball too!

David Shuford – General Manager

David Shuford has been working at Better Baseball since grade school. David helped his Uncle Glen with things as basic as keeping the shop clean to maintaining and revamping the original website. After attending college at the University of Alabama “Roll Tide” he moved back to Atlanta in search for a career. In the mean time he continued working with Uncle Glen at Better Baseball. He quickly discovered that in his 4 year absence Better Baseball had grown from a basement operation to a burgeoning baseball supercenter in the Atlanta area. The company was preparing to open its first retail store and David decided that this was an opportunity to use his knowledge to help the family business grow and prosper.

Adam Kopley – Marketing and Strategic Planning

Adam Kopley has been an avid baseball player and fan since childhood. After graduating from the College of Charleston he relocated to Atlanta to be near family and search for work. Having been friends with David since high school the two often found themselves talking baseball over cocktails while enjoying the Atlanta nightlife. Soon after his relocation David offered Adam a position at the company.

It was immediately apparent that the website was in need of an upgrade and that a long term marketing plan needed to be established. Adam’s first focus was the website rebuild, which was completed in November 2010. Since then Adam has used both local media outlets and web based advertising to move Better Baseball from near online obscurity to one of the top ranking baseball equipment sites on the web today. Adam once hit a baseball so far that they called the game in the 1st inning.

Sterling Pace - National Sales Director

Sterling has always had a passion for baseball. He began his “career” in Atlanta with little league T-Ball at Murphy Candler. He also enjoyed many Braves games at both Fulton County and Turner Field. He continued to play in high school as the ace pitcher for Christ School in Asheville, North Carolina followed by playing with an intramural league for Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. Sterling graduated from the University of Alabama with honors.

This passion for baseball led Sterling to join the Better Baseball team in the fall of 2010. He enjoys attending National Sporting Equipment Conventions to learn about innovative technology for baseball equipment. But his real enjoyment comes from assisting clients with specific challenges and needs - from helping a T-Ball player choose the perfect bat to designing and building a new commercial facility. Sterling will ensure you have the information needed to make an educated decision on your equipment purchases, help maximize your budget requirements and will walk you through the entire process to ensure we exceed your expectations.

Sterling spent his middle school years in Destin, Florida and enjoys deep sea fishing and trolling. He participates in fishing tournaments and has won many categories over the years. He also enjoys hunting and has brought home several trophy mounts that hang proudly in his home. He currently enjoys playing on the Better Baseball slow pitch softball team which recently took home the Brookhaven Boys and Girls Club championship. His visits to Turner Field these days are a little different than when he was 7, but they are still a blast and one of his favorite pastimes.

Aga Brouqueyre - Budget Analyst

Aga brings more than 5 years in financial and business experience to her role at Better Baseball. She was one of our original employees and joined the company in 2007. Her responsibilities include all aspects of accounting including analyzing data, reporting, budgets, expenses and future outlooks. While she wears many hats within the organization she is clearly dedicated to assisting clients to ensure their unique objectives are met. Many of our clients call Aga a friend and that is the greatest complement she could receive!

Aga graduated from Kennesaw State University with a Bachelors of Arts degree in International Affairs with a concentration in business. She enjoys running, traveling, especially to her birth country of Poland, and has a heart for all sorts of animals. Although her schedule keeps her busy she finds time for Food Network shows and is slowly becoming a dedicated Braves baseball fan!

Brett Evans – Graphic Specialist

Brett has a background in both baseball and graphic design which makes him a perfect fit for the Better Baseball team. He has over 6 years of coaching experience and over 9 years of design experience in the Atlanta area. He is also what some would refer to as a "Baller". In Brett's spare time he collects Pez dispensers...which is not weird!

Taylor Forrester – Regional Sales Director

Taylor fits right in with the Better Baseball family bringing 15 years of baseball experience with him. He played both high school and collegiate baseball right here in Georgia. He provides excellent customer service through his expert knowledge of baseball and softball products. Taylor is currently earning his degree in business management so he can bring an even stronger level of knowledge to his already stellar work ethic.

Scott Zambito– Warehouse Manager

Scott's attention to detail is key to his success as warehouse manager. Dealing with hundreds of inbound and outbound packages daily would easily destroy a lesser man. Scott has been coaching at East Cobb Baseball for over 5 years now, so his baseball knowledge is second to none. When Scott isn't at work he spends time with his dogs and his lovely wife Megan.
